New Approaches to Understanding Trans* Student Experiences in Student Affairs | Thursday, Oct 8

12 – 1 PM | Host: Research & Assessment Dialogues, Presented by Dr. Kari Dockendorff | Audience: CSU Staff/Faculty

This presentation will discuss trans* students by talking about policy, practices, and behaviors student affairs staff should consider when interacting with students. Using data collected from the Trans* Inclusivity Scale, developed through my dissertation, I will talk about trans* inclusive behaviors, attitudes, and knowledge staff have when working alongside trans* students. The discussion will then point to areas where policies and practices, and/or trainings can be utilized to encourage more trans* inclusive interactions with students. Next, we will discuss new approaches for measuring gender which could allow for a more nuanced understanding of students and ways different gender identities interact within student affairs. Finally, the talk will conclude with a discussion of future research within this work. RSVP required: david.mckelfresh@colostate.edu, and we will send you a TEAMS invite.
