Pride Resource Center

EDUCATION & WORKSHOPS

The Pride Resource Center offers educational training and workshops for departments, classes, student organizations, and other  groups. Our workshops focus on increasing participants’ knowledge, awareness, skills and action needed to reduce homophobia and transphobia, with the goal of creating a CSU and local community that is inclusive, safer, and supportive to people of all sexual, romantic, and gender identities and expressions. We offer a variety of types of  educational workshops, which you can see below to make the determination for which offering is best for your or your group.
Safe Zone Training

The Pride Resource Center’s Online Safe Zone Training is a 3.5-hour training program for CSU faculty/staff with the objectives of:

  • reducing homophobia, transphobia and cisheterosexism at CSU, thereby making CSU a safer environment for all members of our community across sexual orientations, romantic orientations, gender identities, gender expressions and intersections of identities,
  • creating a network committed to ongoing education and advocacy in order to support LGBTQIA+ communities at CSU.

THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO BE SAFE ZONE TRAINED:

  • Individuals may sign up for our monthly Open Registration Safe Zones.
  • Departments may request a Safe Zone training for their specific group at a time that works for their team.

See the links below to register/submit a request.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • We ask that departments do not mandate or require their staff members to attend our Safe Zone Training, but instead encourage and invite, in order to ensure all participants are invested in the goals of our program.
  • Our primary audience for this training are faculty and staff at Colorado State University. Students have the opportunity to sign up for Safe Zone – Student Sessions.
  • Safe Zone Training requires 3.5 hours to fulfill.
  • Participants who complete the entire training and turn in a Commitment Statement will be given a Safe Zone sticker and be added to our Safe Zone Network directory.

Visible Voices Panels

Visible Voices is an educational program that is styled as a speakers bureau (panel) made up of CSU students, staff, faculty, and community members who share about their experiences and coming out stories.

GOALS OF OUR VISIBLE VOICES PROGRAM INCLUDE:

  • To educate the Colorado State University community and the public about what it means to be gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex or an ally of  LGBTQ+ people and communities;
  • To dispel myths and stereotypes about LGBTQ+ people;
  • To build understanding and acceptance through open and honest dialogue.
