Gender Inclusive Housing

In our ongoing mission to provide housing that meets the diverse needs and interests of ALL students, we are proud to offer Gender Inclusive Housing in designated spaces across campus. Gender Inclusive Housing provides students with a larger community where roommates and/or suitemates of any gender can live together in a more integrated and inclusive environment.

These housing options are designed to support students who may face barriers in traditional binary gendered living experiences, including transgender, LGBTQIA+, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming students. Students across all identities are eligible to participate in our gender inclusive housing process, including allies to the LGBTQIA+ community and students who do not want gender to be a primary factor in choosing a roommate. Participation in Gender Inclusive Housing is entirely voluntary.

Gender Inclusive Housing exists in designated areas within the following halls:

  • Laurel Village-Alpine Hal
  • Summit Hall
  • Westfall Hall

Additionally, some Residential Learning Communities such as Amplify (in Pinon Hall) and Key Communities (in Braiden Hall), have gender inclusive rooms set aside throughout the larger RLC, but this is an option for all RLCs. To be able to select these rooms when you select your room within the RLC, add Gender Inclusive Housing as one of the Residential Learning Community and Themed Housing Opportunities options on your application in addition to the RLC you wish to participate in.

To participate in Gender Inclusive Housing, please complete the following steps* :

  1. Access the Residence Hall Application on the Housing Portal
  2. Add Gender Inclusive Housing as one of the Residential Learning Community and Themed Housing Opportunity options on your application.
  3. Participate in roommate selection with other students in Gender Inclusive Housing.
  4. During room selection, select a room space indicated as Gender Inclusive Housing.
  5.

Off-Campus Housing

Off-Campus Life provides opportunity for students to find housing and roommates off campus. We recommend checking out CSU’s Rental Search, which enables students to see other CSU students who are looking for roommates or have rooms available, and to see available properties in town. This is behind a CSU netID log-in, so it is private to the CSU community. Students can share about themselves and search for roommates across multiple genders, including nonbinary.

Additionally, Off-Campus Life hosts Roommate Meet & Match events, inlcuding with Pride, to support students in finding roommates throughout the year.
