Lavender Awards Nominations
Each year at our Lavender Ceremony, we recognize our Annual Awards through the Pride Resource Center. Please take a moment to nominate a student, staff, faculty, or alumni for one of our awards.
MORRIS PRICE JR. OUTSTANDING ALUMNI AWARD
This award is given to an alumnus of Colorado State University who has continued supporting and/or building relationships with the LGBTQIA+ community at CSU. Nominees should demonstrate the following characteristics or actions: continued work in the LGBTQIA+ communities, support of the Pride Resource Center, passion for belonging, and a commitment to being a visible advocate for LGBTQIA+ local communities.
PRIDE LEGACY AWARD
This award is given to graduating students who have made a significant impact on the LGBTQIA+ community at CSU through their involvement with the Pride Resource Center, student advocacy positions, student organizations, and other affiliated programs. Recipients have demonstrated a commitment to Pride’s values, advocacy, leadership, and ultimately are leaving behind a legacy as they depart from CSU.
RAINBOW INSPIRATION FACULTY/STAFF AWARD
This award recognizes a CSU faculty or staff member based on their contribution to, involvement in, and impact in the local LGBTQIA+ community. We welcome nominations of those who have worked behind the scenes to promote access and belonging and those who have provided mentorship and support to our LGBTQIA+ students at CSU.
SASCHA JULIA FRANZEL ADVOCATE AWARD
This award celebrates an undergraduate or graduate student who has exemplified what it means to be an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ communities. This person expands their own knowledge of the history, struggles, and goals of the LGBTQIA+ communities and nurtures the understanding and acceptance of others. This award honors the legacy of CSU student Sascha Julia Franzel and the ongoing allyship, love, and compassion she shared with her LGBTQIA+ peers and others ahead of her passing in 2011.
SHINING STAR AWARD
This award is given to a non-graduating student who has demonstrated a willingness to get involved and make a difference at CSU, particularly in support of the LGBTQIA+ community. This student has demonstrated a commitment to Pride’s values and has bright things ahead of them for the remainder of their time at CSU.
UNITED IN ACTION AWARD
This award recognizes an undergraduate or graduate student who has demonstrated a commitment to leadership, collaboration, coalition building, solidarity, and creating change on campus. This student has also demonstrated a commitment to Pride’s values and works to build bridges of understanding across differences within and beyond the LGBTQIA+ community.
