Lavender Graduation Award Nominations
Each year at Lav Grad, we recognize our Annual Awards through the Pride Resource Center. Please take a moment to nominate a student, staff, faculty, or alumnx for one of our awards.
MORRIS PRICE JR. OUTSTANDING ALUMNX AWARD
This award is given to an LGBTQIA+ or allied alumni of Colorado State University who has continued supporting and/or building relationships with the LGBTQIA+ community at CSU. Nominees should demonstrate the following characteristics or actions: continued work in the LGBTQIA+ communities, support of the Pride Resource Center, passion for social justice and inclusion, and a commitment to being a visible advocate for LGBTQIA+ local communities.
PRIDE LEGACY AWARD
This award is given to graduating students who have made a significant impact on the LGBTQ+ community at CSU through their involvement with the Pride Resource Center, student advocacy positions, student organizations, and other affiliated programs. Recipients have demonstrated a commitment to Pride’s values (Pride, Authenticity, Community, Social Justice, and Accountability), advocacy, leadership, and ultimately are leaving behind a legacy after they depart CSU.
RAINBOW INSPIRATION FACULTY/STAFF AWARD
This award recognizes a CSU faculty or staff member based on their contribution to, involvement in, and impact on the local LGBTQIA+ community. We welcome nominations of those who have worked behind the scenes to promote access and inclusion and those who have provided mentorship and support to our LGBTQIA+ students at CSU.
SASCHA J. FRANZEL ALLY AWARD
This award celebrates an undergraduate or graduate student who has exemplified what it means to be an ally to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, and transgender (LGBTQIA+) communities. This person expands their own knowledge of the history, struggles, and goals of the LGBTQIA+ communities, but they also nurture the understanding of others. In their day-to-day lives, they practice inclusive language and activism that counter heterosexist and transphobic attitudes, prejudice, and behaviors through educating others. Nominees must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
SHINING STAR AWARD
This award is given to a non-graduating student who has demonstrated a willingness to get involved and make a difference at CSU, particularly in support of the LGBTQIA+ community. This student has demonstrated a commitment to Pride’s values (Pride, Authenticity, Community, Social Justice, and Accountability) and surely has bright things ahead of them for the remainder of their time at CSU.
UNITED IN ACTION AWARD
This award recognizes an undergraduate or graduate student who has demonstrated a commitment to coalition building, solidarity, equity, and creating change on campus. This student has also demonstrated a commitment to Pride’s values (Pride, Authenticity, Community, Social Justice, and Accountability) and works to build bridges of understanding across difference and identity with and within the LGBTQIA+ community.
